So busy…

Sunday, August 28th, 2005

The last time I blogged was on the 19th of August, which is approximately 10 days ago. Too busy to blog I suppose. Let me see what are the interesting things I have experienced in the previous days…

Tuesday: cake baking day AGAIN - Chocolate banana cake. Attended physics tutorials & had to rush home to start on the cake baking with Deb, Wei Mei & Sze. Bought bananas from the mamak stall. Haha… Started cake baking earlier than expected. Deb, my sis & I were busy preparing ingredients & stuffs for the cake when Wei Mei turned up. Sze couldn’t come - busy with assignments. The mixture of the cake was kinda liquidish but we just went ahead with baking anyway. As we waited, Deb supervised Mei on the choc cheese cake. When the choc banana cake was finally done, it turned out to be a more BANANA cake than a choc banana cake. We were dupped by the recipe book. Haha… Cutting of the cake was funny. Deb the "expert" did it. Dunno y the choc fudge recipe by the book turned out very watery. So, we decided to coat another layer with Deb’s choc fudge recipe. Left it in the fridge. Cake turned out not bad though the cream was too soft. When cutting the cake, it just splattered to the sides. Haha… Lame Mr.Loh came to fetch his beloved wife-to-be.

Mr. Loh: Aunt, is Chin Hun in? (i think that’s wat he said to my mom)

Mom: You’re here to find Chin Hun or Debbie?

Haha… Kena bomb kau kau… Padan… Wahahaha…

Flaws on cake - need more choc powder, lesser whip cream, better quality bananas, less sweet. Erm… That’s it I think.

Wednesday - curi curi drove up to IMU to find HC & also to pass him the cake (supposedly one of his favorites though I’m very sure the one I baked isn’t the cake that he likes). Went up all the way there to receive his negative reaction. Argues a little here n there but we made up finally, as usual (according to Val) Haha… Sorry dear, I’ll remember my promise but don’t be too "harsh" next time k? Love u…

Thursday was a funny day. Didn’t bring my lappy cos tot going back early. Next thing we know, the IO class was canceled & we totally forgotten bout it. So, a whole 4 hours in the morning doing nothing but subtitling for Chinese ads for Friday’s ERB. Worried about ERB alot…

Handing in ERB day. Video assessment day as well. Assessments with Winnee is NEVER fun… Scary & anxious but I think we did quite well for it except for a few uncertainties here n there. Hope Winnee’s nice enough to not pinpoint kau kau. Pray hard ERB passes our experiment… Po pi po pi…

Saturday & Sunday in grandparents place. Baked the choc banana cake for grandparents to eat. Wanted to do the cream n fudge at home but was afriad that it’ll melt; so, decided to do it in grandparents place instead. But, there were so many limitations. No mixer. No whip cream. No milk. Had to live with wateva we had. Turned out not bad though hehe… Saturday night went to the temple. Keen on meeting my "godfather". Curious on whether he’d recognize me or not but I didn’t get a chance to ask. They claim that he was a different version from the version that took me as his gad daughter. Weird isn’t it? Aren’t all Gods the same? Huh? Another thing is that, I know when I’m at the temple, I should be there wholeheartedly, then again, I doubt the "religious" stuffs. No point arguing. Just accept it as it is…

Sunday - finally back at home. Just met Hc. He passed me the pendrive he bought for me. Miss him so much. Glad to see him :) Looking forward to Variety Night…

That’s about it I think. Preparing to start another whole busy week. Editing of LAN klcc video. IO ERB proposal. Awaiting Abnormal ERB proposal. Starting schizo video? Dunno… Stress…

It’s only the 1st week & I’m already loaded with assignments… *terrible*

Friday, August 19th, 2005

1st week in college & assignments are already lining up. Have to hand in 3 ERB (Ethics Review Board) proposals by next Friday for the psychology experiments, meaning there will be tonnes & tonnes of research analysing. Argh… We came up with some brilliant ideas for the design of the experiments & Winnee did agree but the only thing that we’re afraid of is that participants might retreat from the experiment. Still figuring out ways to modify. As for IO Pscy, the ERB should be easier but then again, can’t be over optimistic bout the past research. Another assignment is the videotaping for schizophrenic video. Have figured out the storyline already but still having problems with the ending (maybe not) & the script. Of cos, there’s also the LAME LAN Malaysian Studies assignment. Have no choice but to go KLCC tmr to take pictures & interview (if possible). So dowan to go. Sumore got individual assignment to hand in by next Friday. LAN is the one posing the most due dated assignment thus far. LAN IS THE ONE CAUSING ALL THE PROBLEM!

Have been seeing Hc everyday since Monday till Thursday. Almost got to c him today (Friday) but due to my own "stupidness", i let go the chance indirectly. So seldom do we get this chance of seeing each other so often. Plus, his classes are starting very very soon next week; then, I won’t know when can I c him again. He’ll be busy with orientation, classes etc. Haih… So have to appreciate the time now.

"Dear, so happy that we get to spend so much time together this week, thinking back from Monday - u fetch me from train station. Then Tuesday, the baking day, was a very funny & memorable day. Thanks for helping… Wednesday, thanks for the song. Sorry I screwed up! Thursday, thanks for being so caring & considerate. Hope we can spend more quality time together soon…"

Went out for Sze’s birthday today night at Gourmet corner. 7 sisters gang left with 5 - all members present. Hoorah! Wei Mei came as well. So long din c her already. We talked & chatted & talked & chatted. Guess wat? 3/4 of the time (I think) it was all about baking. Haha… Of cos some pat kua here & there la. May’s not working anymore & Mel say’s she plans to quit her job (due to office politics). Then, when it came to the birthday cake time, Deb & May were actually hinting to me to go get it from the kitchen. But I so happen to hear them say that they wanted side dishes, so when they clued "side dishes" as "cake", i didn’t get the hint & asked the waiter for the menu instead. What a laughing scene there was! Haha… The manager was so nice to help us - 1st class service. Sze & Mel who weren’t fans of cheese cake ate the cake - 1, they give face to Deb & 2, the cake was rily tasty. Deb’s "jiu pai" chocolate cheese cake… Then came both the guys (Sze & Deb’s bf). Should’ve called Darling as well but was afraid that the guys might not come, then he’ll end up all lonely & left out. Deb + WK, Sze + CY, Mel + May & Me + Wei Mei. Haha… & we all left about 10.30pm. Looks like we’re reducing our hanging out time or izit just this particular time? Hmmm…

Planning to bake again next week Tuesday. Hope everything turns out smooth that day. That’s all for today…

What went wrong?

Tuesday, August 16th, 2005

Started baking quite early today. Deb & I were determined to mend that day’s blueberry cheese cake’s mistake. We were serious (although joking & laughing most of the time haha). Deb was good with the separation of the egg yolks & egg whites. Praise to Daybie! Haha… Had a hard time beating the egg whites, tartar cream & sugar into whip cream. Deb & I took turns & it did managed to turn out into soft tip. Yay! Another victory!

Started oven baking at almost 12pm. Used the so called "steam bake" way. The cake looked fine in the oven. Smell nice too… While waiting for the cake in the oven, we prepared to make May’s chocolate cheese cake, a cake that May wanted to present to her GUY fren for his birthday. Couldn’t start cos the sieve was in the oven (used to create a steam bake atmosphere). Sigh…

Had a hard time taking out the cake from the oven cos it was hot & the pot was very heavy. Kinda burnt my hand (got ‘pong pa’). Weirdly, the cake looked wobbly - like as if it wasn’t cooked & all soggy inside. Well, we thought maybe all it needed was some cooling. After finish making May’s cake (most of it was done by Deb), we wanted to cont with the oven baked cheese cake. Too wobbly. Put it in the oven again, this time with fan. It came better than the previous but still not hard enuf compared the previous cake made last week.

Hc came by & helped though he was laughing & "kutuking" half the time. Haha… We waited for the cakes to cool & stiffen. Last touch of choc scrapes on May’s cake, it was ready to serve with aluminium foil by the sides. As for the blueberry cheese cake, everything turned out well (the height was right, no shrinking, no biscuit cracking) except… the cake was still too soft & wet inside. Hc helped with the whip cream beating while Deb whipped it with the mixer. Guys are definitely good at beating whip cream cos Hc did a good job at it. Hoorah! Thanks dear… My brother helped with the leveling of cream on the cake. Deb & I covered the sides with crushed biscuits & decorated the top with blueberry. The cake looked beautiful! I think the picture of the cake might  be available at Deb’s blogsite: www.blogmecrazie.blogspot.com.

As for May’s cake, everything was fine too (I think) except… the biscuit & cheese were uneven. Kinda horizontally uneven - one side with half the cake was biscuit & half was cheese while the other side, 3/4 was cheese & 1/4 was biscuit. Get wat I mean? The base wasn’t even from the start & I felt rily bad… It looked unpleasant & it was all cos of me. We (Hc, Deb & Deb’s bf) were thinking hard on how to modify the mistake but in the end we gave up cos… I dunno… We just gave up… The cake’s jolly good & fine except for that 1 small unevenness…

Coming back to the blue berry cheese cake. Despite the beautiful features etc, the cake was very wet inside even after hours in the fridge. Deb said it was most probably we didn’t use the fan function which I agree but there might b other reasons as well. Maybe the Steam bake idea wasn’t all that appropriate. Hard to figure out the reasons. Will modify cake the next time…

Btw, sorry Deb! Didn’t mean for u to take back the "ugly" cake. Did insist that u took mine but u didn’t want to. SORRY! FEEL SO PAISEH & BAD! … Have u eaten it yet? Ur dad? Anyway, ur bf’s annoying but frenly kinda annoying. Haha… Not bad la. A guy who knows how to socialize. Pls thank him for wateva he helped (definitely not the "tambah minyak & air, kasi dia takut" part!) Haha…

Dear, thanks for helping today. Thanks also for comforting & supporting me. We shall triumph over Deb’s couple attack. Haha… Sorry that u didn’t get to bring back the cake. Will bake again SPECIALLY FOR U… Love u :-*

1st day of Fall Semester 2005

Tuesday, August 16th, 2005

After a whole month’s holiday (which I think was seriously short), the ADP Fall Semester 2005 finally begun. Had to go early to check out on the grouping & registration. At 10am, the queue for registration was at number 10_ _ (not sure wat number) & the number I had in hand was 1497. Can u imagine the queue? 400 numbers more to go. What the heck… Didn’t understand why did the administration shifted the grouping from block E to main registry - causing all the mess & long queue…

It has been almost 2 years since I last took Miss Winnee’s class & I remember that time that I had actually taken both her classes in the Fall sem 2003. That was practically SUICIDE! But I still made it through. I must’ve been crazy to even consider such an option at that time… Anyway, taking Abnormal Psyc under Miss Winnee this sem & I haven’t been doing experiments & lab reports since last mid year. How am I gonna cope now? *I don have a choice… Huhu…* Her assignments are very interesting though. 1 was to profile serial killers, preparing the suspects, victims, crime scenes etc. (which is rily cool cos I have books about serial killers & it total interests me!). Another was to create a video on 1 abnormal disorder. It’s also a very exciting assignment. If there were such thing as "Laughing disorder", Val would straight away pass for the casting of the video. Haha… & the abnormal disorder we got was SCHYZOPHRENIA! Yay Yay!

Had to take the train back today cos Yi DUMPED me in Subang to go over to Jin Ko’s place but good also cos Darling fetched me from the station. Hehe…

Laptop’s gone again for the night. Such a liar… Say he’ll be back by 11pm but No… Only was back at 1.30AM!!! So unpunctual! Argh! I wish it was all mine & I needn’t need to share my lappy. Wanna reformat it but very ma fan. Gonna lose alot of stuffs & have to reinstall a lot of things. Nonetheless, I will reformat sooner or later, by hook or by crook…

T-Hop Dance Master Challenge Heat 2

Sunday, August 14th, 2005

Bought my winter stuffs in KL today. From outside the shop looked small but when u step inside, it’s actually quite large, considering that they have an underground space. All their winter clothing, gloves, socks etc are all down under while the luggages & keh leh feh stuffs are on top. Not bad place. The things are obviously cheaper than places such as U…T… (unethical to mention Haha…) but there is of cos quality difference i think. One’s from China, another’s from Korea. Spent quite a lot there (though some would actually think it’s quite cheap already). Anyone who’s interested can ask me bout the place. Good service there. Recommended…

Went over to Sungei Wang Plaze to watch the T-HOP DANCE MASTER CHALLENGE HEAT 2 to watch my elder brother dance. The dance was quite competitive. Got standard cos there were last year’s champion & runner-up present. Was rily good. Impressed. There was a group whose member I think is one of HELP’s student - the girl who did the Beyonce booty thing in ADP/CFP Ball 2004. During the second last group (my brother’s was the last group) by the Element Crew, one of the member had a head concussion due to break dancing. Seemed that he didn’t land properly after doing a one-hand-headstand & landed on his head instead of his body. Fainted immediately. No1 realized it until they posed at the end of the song. Weird cos the guy wasn’t moving & was not at his position. The security guard just came n carried him to back stage… What a scene…

My brother’s group wasn’t all that synchronized but they were good in stunts n choreographing wise. I guess that’s y they made it to the semi finals. Haha… (The mc actually forgotten to mention their group, so initially we all thought they failed to make it through. Only when the judges pointed it out did we know that they passed)

Congratulations to the 8 groups: Rogue, Fundamental Funk, Multi poppose, Transformer Crew, Evo I (The rily cool 1), Element Crew, Butterfly & of cos, SQUASH!

So happy to buy my winter stuffs today. Love my scarves & hats & the rest of the things. Wahahaha… Yay!

My “missing” healed

Sunday, August 14th, 2005

Friday - Actually planning to watch "The Island" but timing problem, so, plan postponed. Watched Coach Carter at home instead. There was this bunch of ppl who just suddenly appeared in front of my house out of nowhere, saying that they wanted to see the house. I dunno wat came into me (maybe seeing that they came in a family with kids & all), I just opened the door without thinking much but of cos they weren’t bad ppl. Plus, Hc was at home that time. So, i guess it wasn’t all that bad. Next thing I know, the ppl called at night saying that they’re interested in buying the house. Huh? So fast? No clear answer till now though…

Saturday - Went to Christine’s birthday party in Taman Melawati. Crowded. The food was tasty. YUmm! Wanted to have more but full d. Sigh… The whole thing was not bad except for the few times that Hc "ditched" me to go around his frens, leaving me there with "What do I do now?" Not that I don wanna mix around with his frens. It’s just that I’m the kind of person who needs warm up. Overall, nice :)

So happy that he’s back & grateful that we were able to spend time together. Finally got to see him… Fall sem starting next week d. The times that we can spend with each other will cut down very much very soon :’( I guess I can only hope for the best, be prepared for the worst. Haha…

Blueberry Cheese cake “failure”

Thursday, August 11th, 2005

Today’s cheese cake making started rather late, about 12pm i think. By the time we (my sister, Deb & I) had breakfast n all, it was already all hazy & noon. Was eagerly preparing the stuffs for the cake, hoping that everything would turn out fine. I had accidentally used Deb’s cocoa powder for the biscuit base of the cheese cake. Felt bad; so, i offered to sieve for her but her response was so mean - "No! Poison! I shall do it myself!" *Why… Not that I meant to do it…*

Anyway after all the hustle & bustle, we could finally start with the mixing of the ingredients. May was already here by then. Somehow, we just overbeat the whole mixture. I think maybe cos the mixing was overdone in the beginning itself where the cheese were still not all that soft (chunky form). Was SUPER WORRIED that the mixture had been overbeaten. Took a whole 20 minutes just to whisp the egg white, sugar & tartar cream. Hand damn pain. Haha… By the end, the mixutre looked not bad. Happily baked it in the heated oven (despite the book’s intrsuction of using steam-bake).

The cake looked rily rily nice & kembang in the oven but by the time we took it out, the whole just suddenly TENGGELAM inside. Was at the verge of tears that time… & when we tipped the cake on a flat plate, the whole thing kemek d. *Tears at the corner of my eyes* Miraculously, after the shaping & covering of whipped cream, the cake didn’t turn out all that bad although the whipping cream part was rily rily pain-staking. By covering lots of blue-berry on top & crushed digestive biscuits on the ugly loopholes, the cake turned out not bad after all. Edible of cos… Haha…

Flaws of the cake:

- Wrong cake to do (harder to do compared to others)

- Wrong flour (suppose to be superfine flour, turned out being superwhite flour)

- Biscuit base not padat enuf (cracked when took out from oven)

- Use steam bake style instead of heat bake for cheese cake

- Careful of overbeating (Haha…)

Suppose that’s about it. Although the cake didn’t turn out as well as expected, overall it was OK. Yay!

Note to DAYBIE: Wei, no1 blaming u la. So quit all the self-blame thingey. There were various reasons y the cake didn’t turn out well. Just help me next time when I bake again k? THanks anyway…

Cheese cake

Tuesday, August 9th, 2005

Deb & May came today for our cheesy appointment. Deb was suppose to teach me, supervise more likely how to make one but seemed that both of them did more work than I did. I mean, not that I didn’t help, just that not so much on the cake part - more on the washing stuffs (therefore the name "Maria"). Haha…

Let me review the FEW MISTAKES i did:

- Didn’t prepare necessary utensils (& not knowing how to use them) *giggles*

- Dunno where the round mould was (had to use a flat rectangle one)

- THE WORST MISTAKE - BOUGHT THE WRONG TYPE OF CHEESE! (Suppose to be philadelphia cheese. I bought cheddar cheese…)

THe cake turn out well though in the end. Serious… Still got leftovers till now. Those who wants can drop by my house to have a bite. Haha…

Aziz & Don dropped by. They too praised the cake, admiting that they didn’t rily expect us to come out with an edible cake. Terrible people… Thanks for coming anyway :)

Hopefully I can make a good cheese cake the next time without Deb & May’s help. Anot I know they’ll laugh their heads off at me if I were to ask them. haha…

T-Hop on Sunday

Tuesday, August 9th, 2005

Went to watch hip hop dance competition in Sungei Wang. A very last minute decision. Reached there late. Didn’t rily get to watch cos was standing all the way at the back. Stupid tall people blocking the view. It was suppose to be a HIP HOP competition but it turned out that some groups performed break dance instead. It was only heat 1. There’s heat 2 next week, Sunday, 3pm. Any1 who’s interested can just drop by to watch but do mind the jam… The amusing part was that a bunch of KIDS actually went through to the semi finals, beating other older age groups. Cool rite?! But I didn’t get to watch them dance…

Met some old frens there coincidently - Aziz, Donovan, Peter, Taib… Who else? Just in case I forgotten, don mind me ya… Hehe… Next thing u know, they started critisizing my blog. I was like "HUH?". What the… Haha…

Might wanna go watch the heat 2 next week but dunno possible anot. C first la…
