Mesmerized by the dance performance

Saturday, July 30th, 2005

Almost didn’t want to go for the tea dance party cos my sis couldn’t come along & I wasn’t rily keen on going alone. Still went for it in the end. Although I was kinda lonely, I didn’t regret my decision cos I got to watch superb performances.

Was invited to dance but totally rejected the poor guy (He’s one of the top latin dancers - that’s y have to reject) Haha… I’m not even good at it & asking me to dance without preparing is definitely a killer to me. So not gonna embarrass myself man…

Saw the kids’ performances. Can u imagine? Primary kids (champion of Malaysia Latin competition under-12 category) dance so much better than me. Like rily rily amused! But the weird part is… The gal’s 10 years old & the guys 15? Under-12 category? Hmmm… Then, there was this rhumba dancing by another couple. Wow! Superbly romantic! Rhumba’s the dance of love & they just did it right. With the techniques & complicated steps, they just blend well perfectly. Wish I could do that well… But I doubt I can cos rhumba involves very very close contact with the guy partner (which I don think is a good idea hehe…) Finally, Billy’s turn to dance & of all dance numbers, he & his partner chose to dance "pasodoble" (however u spell it haha…) THis dance is like the spanish red bull kinda dance, giving a very "ummph" feeling. SUPERB! Just plain stunning! Billy’s gf, Cecilia too danced with her partner. Another super the keng couple! I was mesmerized! Billy & his partner danced the pasodoble & rhumba while his gf danced Cha cha & samba. I am lost of words in trying to describe their dance. Malaysian top latin dancers. What can i say? During the previous competition, both couples were competing for the champion title & after much battle, Cecilia’s dance got 1st while Billy’s got 2nd. As i’m typing now, I can imagine their dance right in my head. Wish I could rewatch…

Went for Val’s church youth concert. It wasn’t rily relevant to me cos it was more of a church thingey but I enjoyed it though. Watching all the youths so enthusiastic & pumped up. So hard to find Val among the choir. Tot her sister was her. Haha…

Tiring day but a definitely interesting one. So motivated to practice my dance steps after watching the performance today. Hope this feeling prevails cos I wanna do well in this dance. Hope for the best…

Tarot cards anyone?

Saturday, July 30th, 2005

Went to Red Box with Val, Fang & Chee Fong. The room was rather small but would do & there were few times of technical problem but they were nice enough to lengthen our time. Sang till sore throat. Haha… When am I gonna go Red Box with my klang ji muis? I wonder…

Yum cha with Sze, Deb & Mel in kampung. Then, somehow the idea of tarot cards just came into our line of interest. After much time of contemplating, we (Sze, Mel & I, supposedly Deb as well) finally decided to go for it despite the price. Erm… Based on my experience with the tarot cards, I would agree wit Sze, saying that its 80% accurate & 20% ambiguous. When the lady explained my personality, I was totally amazed cos most of the parts were very true of me (Saying I comply alot, dunno how to say "NO", tots easily stray etc). I did ask regarding my overseas studying thingey, tarot cards revealed that it was a right choice. However, my love life doesn’t seem to cruise very well according to the cards; seems that a lot a lot of effort is needed - I mean A LOT! Come to think about it, which relationship doesn’t need a lot of effort rite? So, it doesn’t rily make a difference in that. If we’re meant to be together, we will eventually end up together… Overall experience: It was rather satisfying cos it was the first time that I rily went into details about "life guidelines". I was curious about how true it will be & it did prove itself worthy. Plus, it’s a once in a while thingey. In conclusion, interesting experience :)

Mel & Sze tried as well. Mel felt that it was very true. Sze was kinda skeptical (that’s y the 80%/20% conclusion). Deb almost went for it as well but time was running out. It was already 1.15am by the time Mel finished her turn. We might be accompanying Deb one day, I hope cos she knows almost everything about me already. I wanna know hers too… Hehe…

Thursday accompanied by korean series “All About Eve”

Saturday, July 30th, 2005

Thursday’s a day at home with nothing much to do. I have watched this korean series (All About Eve) before on TV & was hoping very much that the set of CDs I borrowed from my cousin would be the Korean version but no… It turn out to be a Mandarin version. Then again, wat the heck… As long as I get to rewatch it… It’s a very entertaining korean show esp with the super perfect male character in it (Trust me on this. The guy’s super sweet & nice towards the gal). Haha…

Went for Latin class - only to find 2 ppl there (me & another aunty). Sad… My brother told me that he couldn’t attend class due to some important dinner but I later found out that he actually went for futsal instead. Crap! It doesn’t matter anyway. It’s his choice… Billy (my latin instructor) asked me to attend a tea dance party in HELP this Saturday. He’s gonna perform there with other good performers as well including his gf. I wanted to see how they dance - I mean how can I dance as well as them cos latin’s not easy to dance wit all the feel etc. He also told me that I might be performing for Equinox’s end year party, that’s if I can find a partner in time. He picked a lot on my steps, almost every step was a mistake. Well, it’s good in a way (although troublesome)…

Left out other smaller details…

Wednesday, July 27th, 2005

Left out other details that I wanna remember. That’s y purposely blogging it down so that I can reread & laugh at it next time.

Val & I went over my uncle’s house on Monday night & she seemed to have blended in well especially with my 5 year old gal cousin who’s vain. Haha… Val tied her hair into 2 cute buns that night & also on Tuesday morning before my cousin went to kindergarten. So darn adorable… (although my uncle said, only ah mahs tie that kinda hairstyle haha…)

We sweeped & moped my grandparents place on Tuesday morning. Very dusty & sticky. Val didn’t dare to sweep the whole first room & last room - the last room had A DEAD INSECT under the sofa & she didn’t dare to approach that part of the room. Haha… Felt cleaner after cleaning but not for long cos the house was back to sticky state by evening. Sigh… Can’t help it - kampung area with chickens, cats & asap all over…

Today as I was reversing my car, I couldn’t help but noticing & remembering my grandpa’s anxious & worried face. I wasn’t all that sure of what happened but it seems that I was reversing too near the longkang. He shouted & looked very very worried. At that time, I felt that his expression was funny but at the same time, felt a sense of warmth cos I know that he cared very very much about me. My grandma shouted too I think. They rily love me alot & I’m very touched to know that. My uncle cares a lot for me too. He was worried when he found out that I was driving back home, worrying whether would I get lost. Then, today, he was worried about the lacking wind back tyre of my car that he said if I had didn’t know how to pump it at the petrol station, I can call him over for help (Mind u, the petrol station ain’t near). My grandparents reminded me dozens of time about the tyre before I left, asking repeatedly do I know how to pump it (Of cos I knew). So sweet of them :) My grandma had been waiting for my phone call (to report to her whether I have reached home safely) after I left. I was suppoe to reach Klang about 12.30pm (which I did) but I called her only at 2pm. She was worried sick by then. She even called home & I was not home cos I had to fetch Val back to her church. Hearing my voice gave her a big relief…

Thank you for everything :)

Back to Kampung, I have…

Wednesday, July 27th, 2005

I went back to my grandparents place in Sabak Bernam on Monday & came back today. Drove there for the first time. Tot it would take me about 2 hours but it only took me about 1 and a half hours. Not bad… Must be the road that’s been repaired. Went back with Val. Supposedly Fang was coming along but she LAST MINUTE FFK! Haha…

Anyway, I knew that my grandparents missed us (my family & I) very much. Plus, we haven’t been going back there since Chinese New Year. My grandma was very extremely delighted with my visit. Going there was more like an "obese" trip. Haha… I mean she fed me "unstoppably", offered me food every now & then. I couldn’t resist cos well… first, she’s my grandma. Second, the foods are irresistable! (kg. taufoo, shrimps, duck, chicken soup - all kampung stuffs & styles). Val was having her way with the delicious taufoo (can only get in kampung) & the "sauce" my grandma made. We practically had taufoos for 3 consecutive days cos my grandma bought it freshly everyday considering that we loved the taste of it. We were suppose to eat seafood/ "tho sat ber" (a type of seafood porridge) on Tuesday night but the plan didn’t work out. My grandma had kept shrimps for me & had cooked her all time traditional chicken soup. I felt bad if i didn’t eat the food she prepared & how often do I actually eat her food? So, I decided to stay home for dinner. Ate the famous Ansun "chee cheong fun". Darn expensive! RM2.20 per packet & it seemed that my auntie bought the chee cheong fun for roughly RM50. She bought a lot for me to take it home for my family.

Tried helping grandparents with the coconut peeling but didn’t know how to do it. I think Val & I added more "ma fan" than help. Haha… The Malay nyonyas just laughed at us. My grandparents were on the other hand, very worried that Val & I might accidentally chop our delicate hands with the small "kapak".

Couldn’t rily do much back at home besides watching tv. Sorry Val for making this trip not as fun as it seem would be. I know u wanted to explore here n there but I preferred staying more at home, so that I can be near my grandparents. Sorry too for the mosquitoes, insects & dirt feeding. Hahahahaha… That’s how genuine kampung life is… Plain boring & nothing much amusing besides the family feel & kampung food :)

I wanted to go back kampung this time cos I’m not rily sure when will I actually have the chance to go after this holiday ends. I might not have the time to spare during the fall semester. Then, it would be the December holidays already by the time the sem finishes, which is when I have to prepare to leave for US. The last time I visited my grandparents was during CNY & it’s been 7 months already since I last spent time with them. The visit this time was rily meaningful to me. I enjoyed my stay there despite the mosquitoe-feeding. Red dots all over me…

When I was about to leave home today, I knew grandma & grandpa weren’t ready to let me go. They were hoping that I could stay longer. Not that I didn’t want to. IF possivle, i would have stayed there for a whole week. But Val was of cos unable to do so & she were not to come along, I won’t get to drive back. Grandma hugged me so tightly before I went into the car. I didn’t hug grandpa. Val asked me why. I didn’t know what to answer. Just didn’t seem right to hug grandpa cos… we don’t usually do that… Felt bad that I didn’t. I will hug both my grandparents the next time I see them. I will… Take care grandpa, grandma. Hope to c u guys soon… Love u…

After 1 year, 5 months, 1 week & 3 days… it got lost…

Sunday, July 24th, 2005

After 3 consecutive happy days, my Sunday had to start negatively. Woke up early to attend the Boy’s Brigade’s Enrollment day in Wesley church. Was kinda in a rush. After getting down from the car, I noticed my necklace, which was a Valentine’s gift in year 2004 given by HC, hanging down vertically along my baby-t, unbuckled with the pendant lost! Tried searching for it in the car & the road nearby but to no avail… Could have fallen out somewhere near my house or in my house itself. Vowed to search for it as soon as I reach home…

The junior boys sang 2 songs & they were so cute while doing all the actions etc. Haha… Watched the Boys Brigade band played their songs. Well, not bad for a 1 year old band although the music wasn’t all that great. Put in more effort & the band will turn out great someday. Saw Hau Wei playing. Hmmm… He hunches while playing the clarinet. Why huh?

Went over to KP cos my sis wanted to change her birthday gift pants. Dropped by in Body Glove. Saw a nice top but wasn’t ready to spend my money. I don undertsand why have I become so broke these 2-3 months. What have I spent my money on? They seem to have evaporated, running away from me unnoticingly.

Came back home & immediately searched for my pendant. Sadly, it was not to be found anywhere. Not in my room, not in my carpark, not even on the roads… I cried. Yes, I cried over a pendant - a pendant which has been with me for over a year plus plus… Actually, I’ve lost it once (due to the same reason, careless buckling) but my maid managed to find it back on the road next to my house. HC comforted me, asking me not to start thinking nonsensical stuffs. I suppose he’s worried that I might start relating the lost pendant to our relationship - like maybe, we aren’t fated to be together kinda thing. No… I wouldn’t associate such thoughts. It’s sad to have lost it & all thanks to my very own carelessness. I won’t give up on the pendant. I’ll still continue searching for it. If it’s meant to be mine, it will come back to me someday… (although HC did mention about getting me a new one)

Astro technicians are suppose to come today to repair the astro (of cos…) but they’re not here yet, meaning I’m gonna miss my Jewel in the Palaca for the 3rd time in a row. Gosh! Can’t they just be more efficient?!

Reminds of my just repaired laptop. I replaced the old mother board for a new one. Some people may find me stupid to replace a mother board instead of buying a new laptop but my lappy’s only a year old & I will only buy a new lappy if i can sell the "spoilt" one. Actually, it’s only the network card which is not working but because it’s integrated, I have no choice but to change the whole mother board. I was initially torn between buying a new laptop or just getting an external network card. Later, I found out my lappy will be insured by the insurance company, so, what the heck… just replace a new mother board la. Haha… Quite efficient. Sent in payment on Tuesday & they repaired it by Thursday in my house, on the spot, in front of my eyes… Although I’ve had rough times with my lappy’s company (name starting with D…) cos I called them so often that they probably had my name black listed, I still am satisfied with their service.

I miss him so much & I hate myself for losing the pendant… What a day…

Sweet Weekend… :)

Saturday, July 23rd, 2005

It was yet another sweet weekend for me as I was able to spend the Friday & Saturday with my beloved darling. From 9am Friday to 2pm Saturday - that’s the amount of time we spent together. Yes, I know it’s actually not that long but we don’t usually get that much time in hand for each other.

Went to Central Market to get souvenirs for the people he’s gonna meet at the AMSC (some Asian medical students conference). Then, we had lunch in Teppanyaki in Mid-Valley. Almost bought a ROXY bikini but the price totally turned me off! It was a pink one & it totally caught my attention. There was a whole big sale at Quicksilver & initially I thought the swim wear was gonna cost me only RM120 at most but no! That amount of money was only enough for me to buy the bottom part of the bikini! The whole suit actually cost about RM300. So, I didn’t buy it in the end. What a pity…

He had basketball training in the evening. I was alone in his appartment, reading my book, watching the blur television etc. Had dinner in some hawker stall. Then, we went over to the nearby pasar malam. I had a one time, should I say, "cool" experience. Haha… 3/4 of the pasar malam were pirated CDs vendors & I wondered how often do the police visit that area. According to HC, those CD vendors are very quick in escaping when they hear the police coming. I was rather skeptical but the night proved his words. I was looking at a CD when HC just pushed me lightly from the back, asking me to stop looking & move on. I thought he was bored & wanted to continue walking, so, I didn’t care much. Next thing, I know the vendor guy was staking his table of CDs one on of the other,  saying he gotta "ta pau". I was like "huh?". HC just pulled me over. It seems that there were police coming to do their rounding & the vendors are keeping their "stuffs". I was at one end & by the time I continued walking towards the middle, all the other CD vendors had "closed" their booths. Damn fast! They kept all their CDs, leaving only the empty table stand & the CD guys just walked around the pasar malam like normal people with a no big deal face. You can see most with earphones & a few with walkie-talkies in hand. What can I say? I salute them!? Haha…

HC & I went back to the apartment & spent our night listening & singing songs. I was also kinda teaching him Chinese words, explaining the meaning of the songs as well. Songs like "tong hua", "di yi chi", "wo ni de shou", "an jing", "qi li xiang" etc. Wanted him to listen to "lian ren wei man" by SHE but the CD wasn’t working. It meant stg to me & I wanted him to know it… Rily a wonderful together. Then, we had tong sui at some tong sui shop called "Sweet Bean" with his frens. They’re rily very nice & frenly people, knows how to crack jokes, especially bout the girls in HC’s group in AMSC. It seems that there are gonna be "pretty" gals in his group from Taiwan & Japan. HC was devastated over it. Haha… Hendrik & Liang both have superb leng luis in their group. Should I say that I’m happy that HC’s group doesn’t have such superb ones? So mean of me, rite? Haha… Dear, look at the bright side. Don’t always associate pretty with positive characters - it may not always turn out so. & this experience is gonna make u appreciate me more. Hehe :)

Half day with HC before we parted. It’s gonna be a whole weekend before I get to see him again (if possible). Gonna miss him so so much!

Dear, I had a great time with you. Wished we could do it more often, spending quality time together even if we aren’t doing anything at all… Love u…

HC & I in the kitchen

Thursday, July 21st, 2005

Hmm… Today’s a whole new experience. A sweet & worth reminiscing memory. HC & I actually went in the kitchen together today to prepare food for each other. Supposedly, there was a podluck today but it was cancelled due to some circumstances. I initially wanted to prepare either sushi or jelly for the occassion. So, HC suggested that we go ahead with the cooking plan & try preparing spaghetti. I’ve never actually prepared spaghetti before… So… Err… (Kinda reminded me of my French presentation spaghetti) Haha…

Woke up earlier today to make jelly for HC. Well, I’ve never actually made jellies before. So, it’s another new lesson for me. It’s pretty easy to make. Yes, yes… Go ahead laugh at me… :P

The DELL guy called (supposedly repairing my laptop today) but didn’t expect him to be here at 10am. According to the appointment, he was suppose to arrive at 12. Hello?! Anyway, I couldn’t bathe cos I had to wait for the guy to come. After about 1 hour++ repairing, my laptop is finally able to go online "broadbandly" again (After sooooo long…). Was bathing when HC arrived. Sorry dear for making u wait…

Went to Jusco. Bought stuffs for spaghetti. Came home. This was where the kitchen adventure started…

HC was in charge of peeling small onions & garlic. He didn’t like the mission very much, especially with the fact that he’s not a huge fan of those two (Haha…). I, on the other hand, was in charge of mincing the chicken fillet, garlic & onions. Mincing the chicken was a new experience for me cos I had never done it before. Was kinda successful despite the fact that it turned out being quite a chunk while frying it. Haha… HC then boiled the spaghetti, called the "angel hair" spaghetti - rather looking more like "mi suah". My maid CONTRIBUTED & HELPED a lot with the sauce making cos we weren’t sure what to add. The hot dog came in quite last minute & I forgotten to add in mushrooms & there were cheese in the fridge!(HC & I bought cheese…) In the end, the sauce turned out quite convincing n tasty of cos. Hehe…

Mr. Khoo Hau Wei, if you’re reading this, U’ll regret for not giving the spaghetti a try. Trust me!!!

Again, it was a very very memorable day for me. Very happy… :)

Malaysian Studies presentation & NTV7 visit

Monday, July 18th, 2005

My Malaysian studies presentation didn’t turn out as well as i expected it to be THANKS TO MY LAGGING LAPTOP! There was suppose to be some techno music while the photos of Bernard Chandran’s designs were projected but somehow the lagging laptop played from both the real player n windows media player that the whole music turned out weird n sucky! Then, towards the end, where there were more pictures to be displayed, there were no music because of the sucky combination of 2 players. Suck big time! Well, although the marks weren’t all that bad, i knew that it could be better!!! Forget it…

Very nice of Mr. Gerard to be so considerate… Thanks sir for the generous marking of my assignment… Hehe…

My streamyx was down for like almost 4-5 days (since Thursday). Then, my astro suddenly lost the satelite signal on Saturday evening, which made me miss my "Jewel in the Palace" on both saturday n Sunday… Why must this happen only when my holidays start? Lucky for me i bought books to read & of cos, my brother’s anime to accompany me. I bought a "Visual encyclopedia of serial killers", "My life among serial killers" n "Harry Potter & the half blood prince". Super cool books… Almost bought a multiple personality disorder fiction novel n Dave Pelzer’s triology (Mummy say cannot "tam sam" wor…) Anyway, i’m so so intrigued by the serial killer books - written by real life profilers n psychiatrists who have been in close contact n interviewed numbers of psychopaths. Ok. I know what u guys may start to think out there.. No! I’m not interested in becoming a serial killer but i’m considering a profiler’s job. It soooooo challenging n cool although there are risks. To those who wants to have a glimpse, u can try asking for my permission… Hehe…

Went to ntv7 yesterday. THought it was a trip thingey but no… We (the Gan association members, my family etc) went as audience in this life tv program at 6pm, every sunday. It’s about some helping the unfortunate kinda thing. The floor manager told us to "behave" as in not to be surprised when u c ur own face on the tv n don say "hello" to the people watching the program (haha…) We had to focus on the conversation when there’s no ad, clapping everytime it enters commercial time n when it came back to the program. N guess wat? My small brother was fidgeting unstoppable on his chair n he actually yawned during the take! Yawned! Imagine if the camera had suddenly change the angle n had him on tv? So embarrasing! Haha… But no… he was lucky… Oh ya, they (the crews) even asked an uncle who looked sleepy in the studio to move from his seat (because it was rather visible on camera) Haha… Not bad experience… :)
